actiCAP ControlBox

The Brain Products actiCAP ControlBox is a useful tool for those researchers:

  1. Doing high throughput recordings with an actiCHamp (Plus) and needing to check impedance of participant B while participant A is still recording
  2. Using a BrainAmp or other 3rd party passive EEG amplifier (see the E105 adapter below with 1.5mm Touchproof endings) for recording actiCAP active gel electrodes, and
  3. Wirelessly checking impedance values of actiCAP gel active electrodes without an amplifier or computer!

You can use the actiCAP Control Software to connect to the ControlBox via USB to run a Label Check, power groups of electrodes for photo or video staging, or run Impedance Check.

The last settings you choose during Impedance Check will be remembered by the actiCAP ControlBox so that if you run it from 4x AA batteries, you can do a qualitative Impedance Check wirelessly and without a computer. The electrode LED colors will change from red to yellow to green at the thresholds that you previously set, giving you a qualitative measure of the electrode impedances. This is especially useful if your recording participants need special handling to keep them happy (eg infants, elderly, or any population needing more adjustment time) and you’d like to begin preparing the electrodes while they play or pass the time somewhere away from the recording booth.
